One year before the Berlin Wall fell, this silent black&white documentary from 1988 is a profile of West-Berlin: places and people, moods and locations; you eventually see "Checkpoint Charlie" still in function. It's a documentary shot in autumn and winter in all shades of grey, black and white.

Debut documentary film essay and initial film work of Joachim Polzer from 1985. A meditation on what's important in life  plus a study in film editing and in human voice montage. You may notice paragons and inspirations from Berry Bermanges' "Four Inventions for Radio" from 1964/1965, from movies like "Sans Soleil" (1983) or "My Dinner With André" (1981), which made a great impression on Joachim Polzer at the time.  "Alles ist gut" was one of the first...

Profile on Gustav Heckmann and mostly in his own words: Gustav Heckmann, a Graduate of the famous Göttingen University (where he studied under teachers in Physics like Max Planck, Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr) was the initiator of the so called "Urgent Appeal" from 1932, one of the last attempts by celebrities of the time (e.g., Albert Einstein, Käthe Kollwitz and others) to prevent the takeover of power by Hitler and the Nazis. For most of his later life (returning to West...
